FIRST ASSEMBLY ROXAS MISSIONS, INC. EXISTS TO MAKE DISCIPLES of all people by causing them to seek Christ, know Christ, grow in Christ, serve Christ and share Christ to the community and the world.

Answering these question is the right starting point for a church.
Why is the church here?
Why is our church in this city?
Why do we exist as a church?

Without a clear purpose, a church can be driven by other things.
TRADITION – so the church exists to perpetuate the past saying “We’ve always done it this way”.
PERSONALITY – so the church exists to propagate the passion of the leader: and everything is in answer to `What does the leader want?”
FINANCES – so efforts are focused in `Profit’ or `savings’. A deciding factor is the answer to the question “How much will it cost?”
PROGRAMS – so the church is bound to maintain programs and activities without asking if they still work
BUILDING AND FACILITY – so the building or need for one shapes the budget and ministry. There is an insatiable need to have nicer facility
EVENTS – so the people in the church are kept busy with a full calendar of activities. “ What’s next?” is the constant question.

But a clear purpose
BUILDS MORALE AND REDUCES FRUSTRATION. `Where there is no vision, the people perish’. Proverb 29:18
DEFINES WHAT WE DO, AND WHAT WE DO NOT DO. `You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you’. Isa 26:3. Many suggestions as to what the church should do are noble but the filter must always be: Does this activity fulfill the purpose?”
ALLOWS CONCENTRATION AND RESULTS TO GREATER IMPACT. A purpose driven church must have the courage to abandon programs that have outlived its purpose.”..but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before”. Phil 3:13
ATTRACTS COOPERATION. Everyone is looking for something that gives meaning, purpose and direction in life. So people will want to join a church that knows where it is going. “Arise! For {this} matter is your responsibility, but we will be with you; be courageous and act.” Ezra 10:4
ASSISTS EVALUATION. The church purpose serves as the standard to measure the health, growth and success of a church.

It is not just having A PURPOSE, but THE RIGHT PURPOSE for existing as a church.
What is the right purpose for the church?
How do we know we have the right purpose?

Three principles helped us at FARM discover the right purpose for the church.

PRINCIPLE OF PROPRIETORSHIP. Jesus is the Owner, True Builder, Head of the church. The Church is His project, His idea. So in everything concerning the church, He must have supremacy.
Matthew 16:18 (NIV) Jesus said, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Colossians 1:18 (NIV) And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

PRINCIPLE OF PURPOSE. The owner of the project has a purpose. We should not invent our own purpose for the church. We only need to discover the purpose of the Owner and Head of the church. This is not hard to do. Consider these questions
What did Jesus do while he was on earth?
What did the first churches do?
What did Jesus tell us to do?

Given all authority in heaven and on earth, His command was for us to make disciples!
Matthew 28:18 – 20 (NIV) 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

PRINCIPLE OF PLAN. Then the builder draws up the plan according to his purpose. Jesus is the true builder of the church. We have been called only to co-build with Him.

Therefore, @ FARM  Christ’s purpose is our purpose: Make Disciples
We will build the church according to His plan
We organize, plan and move according to His purpose..
We don’t replace  nor complicate the purpose of the Head.
